Kitty
Kitty is my latest. She was born to a feral cat colony in Ventura and was caught, along with 4 others, by a neighbor. I offered to socialize one and then put it up for adoption but we have bonded and I can't image giving her to someone else. The first row of pictures is the first day in her new home. She spent a week under things. The second row demonstrates how she helps me with my schoolwork and her unique way of splaying. Row 3 shows Kitty after she has used the highlighter in her own way.
Pyewacket & Sassafras
I was in graduate school when I was given Pyewacket and Sassafras as kittens the summer of 1984. They were a brother and sister of a small litter and were virtual twins. They were cats that spent a lot of time wandering the neighborhood and one night Sassafras didn't come home. Pyewacket was with me for almost 20 years and passed away in my arms the summer of 2004.
Shadow
Shadow was a very friendly stray in San Leandro who adopted me. He had been on his own for a while and his long fur was matted and dirty. he allowed me to cut out the mats and brush him regularly and became quite the handsome cat over time. When I left northern California he was adopted by one of my tenants but went AWOL shortly thereafter.
BooBoo
BooBoo belonged to the lady who lived across the street in San Leandro but seemed to spend time at a variety of houses. He was a neutered male who was friendly to anyone who would pay attention to him or feed him.
Steve
I met Steve riding on the Pacific Coast Highway on my way to the Mensa RG at Pismo Beach. Had I had a single room I might have invited him along but circumstances were not to be. He had been laid off his most recent job and had decided to use his severance pay to take a motorcycle trip around the country.
